  • POOLSIDE ¬ KEEPING YOUR HAIR HAPPY

    Posted on 03/08/2012 by zu.rafalat

This week we were in the Aquatics Centre, watching Michael Phelps become the most decorated Olympian in history and cheering on Team GB with everything we had when it struck us, what do these swimmers do to keep their hair in shape with all that chlorine exposure?

Chlorine is a killer for hair and excess exposure will leave it feeling dry and brittle. If you've been inspired by those athletes powering through the water, it's time to invest in a heavy-duty hair oil to keep your locks strong and shiny.

    Rahua ¬ Elixir

Rahua is named after Rahua oil, an intensely hydrating oil found in the Amazon. Their Elixir  is utterly pure and exceptionally rich. 100% natural, it's the solution of all solutions to the toughest hair-care challenges.  It can be used as a poof-taming shine serum on dry hair, as an overnight treatment to repair hair, as a scalp treatment for healthy hair growth, or as a 3 minute pre-shampoo oil treatment.

    Shiffa ¬ Invigorating Hair Oil

This hair oil blends together grape seed and jojoba oil to nourish hair, protein rich nettle and wild mint to stimulate and revive the scalp and rosemary to refresh and invigorate. Massage it into your hair and scalp and leave it in over night or wash it out after half and hour.

Sans Ceuticals ¬ Protein Moisture Infusion

Originally developed as a hair treatment for professional use only, this new-generation hydrating and restructuring serum targets the internal structure of the hair fibre. It contains a powerful combination of tiny molecular proteins, bio-lipids and natural AHAs (critical for pH balance) that really penetrate the hair to protect, soften and elastacise it.

Hei Poa ¬ Pur Monoi Frangipani - Traditional Monoi Oil

Don't be alarmed if your Monoi Oil solidifies - it freezes in temperatures under 24C. Just stand it in some warm water and it will be back to its liquid self in no time. You can use this on your body and your hair, and it will leave a gentle scent of tropical flowers.

  • GUEST POST ¬ LE SALON DE BEAUTE

    Posted on 23/07/2010 by zu.rafalat

I’m pale and pasty.  Always have been and, I suspect, I always will be. I’m also covered in freckles. I’ve hated them ever since I was a child. I covet those beautiful alabaster tones of Cate Blanchett and Scarlett Johanssen. Or the stunningly tanned limbs a la Lauren Conrad and Audrina Partridge. But no, I’m like a very unglam and pudgy version of Lindsay Lohan on one of her benders.

Yes, I can hear you suggesting sunbeds, fake tans and all that malarkey. I have to admit that I have tried a stand up sun bed contraption. I was in there for six minutes and was sunburned in places that should never be sunburned! NEVER AGAIN! I’ve also been off the whole fake tan thing. I’ve tried a couple of gradual tans but they turn me orange. Oompaloompah hasn’t really been on trend for a while as far as I’m aware. I’ve also tried a lot of fake tanners. Over time they tend to make me look green and I cannot avoid streaks for love or money!

Don’t get me started on the smell of all those products either. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

And so it was with trepidation that I embarked on a trial of the Hei Poa Self Tanning Gel. I was even more nervous when I noticed that it said it had a “pearlescent” finish. Oh no. I had visions of Jordan and the Spice Girls creating some sort of streaky hybrid. But I’m always up for a beauty challenge so I did it.

I snapped open the lid. Mmm, smells like holidays! Like coconutty cocktail style holidays! So far so good. Runny! Argh! Very runny! Watch this one! It doesn’t stain your bathroom porcelain but it can get messy if you’re not careful/prepared. It has a guide colour so you’re not completely applying via brail and it’s very easy to get smooth and even coverage.

I slapped in on all over in my usual way. As someone that is completely time starved I’m never going to be able to spend ages being super careful. Once it was dry I inspected the damage. No streaks! Nice colour! Not green. Not orange. My boyf commented that I smelt yummy as well! Woohoo!

Next test – going outside in the real world. At lunch I did notice the little particles of glitter. I started to have a Spice Girls related panic attack but the boyf assured me I was the only one that could notice and mentioned that the overall effect was “very subtle”. Trust me, he’s very diplomatic but doesn’t tend to tell me what I want to hear for the sake of it.

It didn’t stain my lovely, super-high-thread count sheets and it didn’t look scary when I showered either. I applied it every few days over about ten days and didn’t ever feel sticky, dry or any of those nasties. Best of all I didn’t streak! Not one little bit!

I’m not sure it’s something I can ever be bothered to really keep up with as a proper regime but it’s great to have before holidays or special occasions.

    Kisses,

    Rebecca xxx

Top To Toe Pampering In One Bottle

After a weekend of bad football games and generally feeling under the weather I felt in need of a bit of TLC. My salvation came in one of the goodies I was kindly sent by Zuneta, the Hei Poa Pur Monoi Tahiti – Tiare Oil – this was the perfect excuse to take some time out.

    Liquid

Solid at temperatures below 24°C, just pop the glass bottle carefully into warm water and the contents transforms into luxurious oil – Monoi.

    Solid

The production of this version of Tahitian Monoi oil goes back over 2000 years and the process has changed little in that time. The national flower of Tahiti, the Tiare is soaked in Coconut Oil for at least 15 days to produce a heady floral scented oil reminiscent of holidays in the sun. This Hei Poa oil contains only genuine, origin guaranteed Tahitian Monoi Tiare oil -you can even see the Tiare flowers in the bottle! Traditionally used for many skin, body and hair ailments this oil really is a multi use product as I discovered during my football free zone pampering session!  It really can be used from top to toe, first of all I applied the warmed oil to dry hair for an intensive hair treatment before shampooing – it left my hair much softer and with a subtle tropical fragrance. I also used it as an all over body oil – my skin was left soft and fragrant but not overtly oily, and as an intensive overnight cuticle treatment – bye bye dry cuticles.

    Texture

To be honest in my mini pamper session I tried just some of the uses of this product, you can also use it as bath oil, as an after sun and as a massage medium. It really is universal – it would be a great multi purpose holiday product - the smell would instantly get you in the holiday mood, just be careful with the glass bottle in your suitcase. Would I buy this again? Definitely it’s a lovely product, with so many uses. Hei Poa Pur Monoi Tahiti – Tiare is just one variety of Hei Poa Monoi Oil sold by Zuneta at £9.00 for 100ml
