New Girl star Zooey Deschanel, nominated in the Lead Comedy Actress category, can be counted on to wow on the red carpet. “She’s a risk-taker who follows her instincts,” says makeup artist Jorjee Douglass, who created a beautiful makeup look to offset her striking blue Reem Acra dress, and her glossy raven locks.

Complexion: Jorjee began by priming the skin with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, and followed with Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer in Ivory. Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer was utilized in two different shades – Fair and Pearl. She finished the skin with Hourglass Oxygen Mineral Powder in #1.

Cheeks: She applied Hourglass Aura Sheer Cheek Stain in Flush, topped with Dior’s Rosy Glow in 001 petal.

Eyes: She started with the light shimmer shade of Hourglass Vol. 6 Eye Palette across the whole lid, then contoured the crease of the eye with the brown and black colors; and finally, blended the whole lid with the pink. She then shimmered the entire lid with Beauty is Life Everest.

She framed the eyes using Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner in Ebony and Hourglass Script Precision Liquid Liner. She lined the top in a cat shape bringing it out past the lid and the lashes. Lining under the eyes, she went from the middle of the eye and straight out –making it a princess version of Cleopatra's eye. She finished the eyes with false lashes and Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer.

Lips: Jorjee completed the look with Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Ballet.

With her creamy skin, Titian hair and killer curves, Christina Hendricks always sizzles on the red carpet. For the Emmys, makeup artist Vanessa Scali gave the Mad Men star a gorgeous look to complement the old Hollywood feel of her Christian Siriano gown and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. “I was inspired by the soft, feminine look of the dress and its cool, shimmery neutral color against her skin. I kept her face soft and romantic,but added contrast and strength with a bold lip color.” Hendricks, nominated in the Supporting Drama Actress category at this year's Emmy Awards, looked stunning.

Complexion: Vanessa began by using Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum. She loves this primer serum as it delivers penetrating moisture and leaves the skin feeling beautiful and clean. She then applied Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer in Shell - the formula is effortless to apply and made her skin look natural and flawless. Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer was applied wherever necessary.

Cheeks: Hourglass Aura Sheer Cheek Stain in Flush was applied to the apples of the cheeks blending outward to the cheekbones.

Eyes: For definition and intensity, she lined her eyes with Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Liner in Ebony at the base of the lashes and on the inside top rim of the eye. Using the lighter shade from Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy, she swept the color from the lash line to the eye brow. Then, she used a touch of the deeper shade blending it well, from the lash line to just above the crease and swept past the natural outer corner to exaggerate and elongate the eye. This color continues very subtly under the bottom lashes. She finished the eyes with lush, flirty lashes - Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara was used all over the lashes and Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer concentrated on the center of the lashes.

Lips: She gave Christina a bold, strong lip with Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon.

Angelina Jolie’s red lips made a bold statement at the Globes last week, but she’s not the only beauty whose makeup we coveted.

WHO: Makeup Artist Molly Stern

INSPIRATION: “Kate’s Roberto Cavalli dress was so ethereal and magical; I wanted to keep the skin looking completely luminous and create a bit of edge with the eyes.”

HOW-TO: SKIN Molly began by moisturizing Kate’s skin with Natura Bisse’s The Cure Cream. She then primed with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, which creates a flawless canvas for makeup, followed by a light application of Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer in Sand. Molly loved the sheer finish of the foundation, which allowed the British beauty’s gorgeous skin to shine through.

CHEEKS Molly used the bronze tone in Hourglass Illume Creme-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset to add warmth to Kate’s skin, and followed with the blush tone applied on the apples of her cheeks. She then dusted NARS Miss Liberty high on her cheekbone to add an extra glow.

EYES Molly used the bronze shade of Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy as a base, and set it with NARS Galapagos Eye Shadow, smudged deep into the lid. For an extra pop of light, she dabbed CHANEL’s Blazing Gold Ombré Essential over the inner lid. Her lashes are deep and jet-black due to Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara, followed by Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer which was painted over them for an extra kick of drama.

LIPS Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème lipstick in Fresco was used as a base on Kate’s lips, followed by Hourglass Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Imagine for a glistening sheen.

Elie Saab SS12

I fell in love with this fresh, feminine look from Elie Saab's SS12 runway show the second it appeared on the catwalk. The rosy cheeks and pearly-pink lips were the perfect accompaniment to his floaty dresses in sugared almond hues, adorned with petals.

To get the look, don't be afraid to go girly with your shades - the simple pony tail will keep you from looking too Polly Pocket (for those of you who remember those teeny, tiny princess dolls). Use Cutler's Fly Away Control Stick to tame any stray hairs once you've tied your hair back, to keep your 'do nice and sleek up top.

For make up, first up you need flawless skin, which means a great full coverage foundation - Hourglass is fab for that. If you have sensitive skin, try their Veil Fluid Make Up foundation. It's formulated to be ultra gentle on skin, but still provide the coverage needed to even out skin tone. As I have combination skin, I'm better suited to their new Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation, which absorbs oil as the day goes on to keep shine at bay (a little aside: you guys are loving it too - we've had some great feedback from fans!).

In Clinic terms, I fall into Group C - dark hair, green eyes, fair to medium skin (depending on just how little sun England provides me with), so for blush I go for cooler shades and always in a cream blush - they work with my combination skin rather than against it like with powders. Rouge Bunny Rouge's Blush Wand in Vermeer is perfect for this look. A sheer pink that gives a dewy finish and gives me delicate flushed cheeks. If you prefer a powder, RBR's Original Skin Blush in Gracilis is a good option. For darker skin tones, go for a bolder pink, like Orpheline or Florita. Edward Bess does excellent bold pink cream blushes with his Compact Rouge - Island Rose and Love Affair look gorgeous on darker skin tones too!

Whichever blush you go for, pat gently along and just under your cheekbones for some definition.

For lips, I'd recommend Hourglass' Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Fortune. It's a delicate pink with peach shimmer to give that subtle pearly finish.

For eyes, it's Hourglass' Film Noir Mascara, topped off with a coat of their Film Noir Lash Lacquer for extra definition and a perfect line (after a LOT of practice) of their Script Precision Liquid Liner, which thankfully has a super thin, sturdy tip like a felt tip pen that's easy to work with.

Et voila! I (and you, if you're trying this look out) are ready to step into spring a la Elie Saab!

Hourglass were the cosmetics of choice for many a starlet on Sunday night. Here the professionals tell us how they got Anna Paquin looking so radiant...

True Blood star Anna Paquin attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation viewing party in a dramatic Pucci dress. “For me the retro dress, with its open back and swirling gold print, brings to mind the 60s,” says makeup artist Amy Nadine. “So we embraced the idea with smoldering eyes and heavy lashes.”

Skin: Amy began by using Veil Mineral Primer to prep Anna’s skin for makeup. She then evened out her skin tone with Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation in Shell, applying it to her face and neck. She concealed under the eyes with Hidden Corrective Concealer in Fair.

Cheeks: She applied the bronze shade of Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset to the hollows of Anna’s cheeks to contour the face, and then dusted the pink shade lightly on her cheekbones. She then blended the foundation back over the cheek shades to create a flush of color effect.

Eyes: She used a copper shade on the lid and crease, then defined the lash line with Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner in Cognac.  She gave Anna’s lashes two coats of Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara and applied individual medium lashes for a 60s-like lash effect. Last, she coated the lashes with Film Noir Lash Lacquer for extra drama.

Lips: She lined the lips with Trace Lip Liner in Secret, and then added Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Edition, a soft pink shimmer. Anna also carried the lipstick in her purse for touch ups.

We all know that celebrities don't just wake up looking red carpet ready. Here, Hourglass tells how they achieved their stunning looks for some serious Hollywood stars. First up is Golden Globe winner Claire Danes.

Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar fête is the splashiest Hollywood party of the year, a star-studded affair with an eclectic A-list crowd. Among the most luminous attendees this year was Claire Danes. Her makeup artist Jenn Streicher gave Claire a soft and neutral look to complement her pink-red Valentino gown.

To start off, Jenn prepped the skin with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. For a matte finish with 'party-all-night' staying power, Jenn used Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation, mixing two shades,Light Beige and Sand to achieve just the right shade to match Claire's natural skin tone. To complete the flawless base, she used Hidden Corrective Concealer in Sand to cover any imperfections.

Moving onto the cheeks, Jenn infused a pop of color on the face using the blush shade in Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset and bronzed with Superficial Waterproof Bronzer.

She kept the eyes neutral with Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy - warm, metallic tones with some subtle shimmer - using the lighter, shell shade on the lid and darker, copper shimmer shade on the lash line. She then applied Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara and finished with Film Noir Lash Lacquer for extra dark lashes.

To bring the look together, Aura Sheer Lip Stain in Flush, a pink-coral shade, was applied to complement Claire’s stunning dress. Jenn topped off the stain with a coat of Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Reflect, a sheer pink shimmer.

It's a look that is timeless and glamorous, and is actually a great day look if you want to give your beauty routine a red carpet edge.

When Chanel sent it's models down the catwalk with their hair adorned with pearls and irridescent makeup, we became enamoured with the aquatic trend that is set to take this season by storm.

As members of the The Little Mermaid generation, we've been waiting for the day when we can incorporate the under the sea theme into our beauty routine. Now that it's here, we know exactly what to do:

First up is getting our skin perfect with SJAL's Pearl Enzyme Exfoliating Mask. Pearls, sapphires and diamonds help lift dull cells off the skin's surface, leaving you with the most divinely smooth skin, worthy of any mermaid princess.

For make-up we turn to Rouge Bunny Rouge and their Loose Glitter Pigment in Spun From Sunny Seawater. A light wash of it's turquoise colour with green reflections creates a dreamy interpretation of the ocean. Keep the look simple with slick of glossy black liquid liner along the lash line - Hourglass' Calligraphy Liquid Liner in Ebony gives intense definition. ETHEREAL BEAUTY

“A vibrant olive shadow really pops—especially if you foil the color,” says Brooke, who suggests using Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Dune. Using a shadow brush, apply the champagne shade first. Use your finger to blend for a graduation of color. Then apply the green shimmer shade. To heighten the impact of the shade, wet your brush before application but make sure to let the shadow dry before moving on to another shade.

Pair your statement eyes with Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Bronze Light applied to the cheeks. Focus on the highlighter shade in the duo.

Finish up with Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Fortune (metallic pink shimmer).

SUPER VAMP

Turn heads with this directional look expressly designed for evening glamour. First, apply the cream shimmer shade of Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Suede over the entire eyelid. Then, line the eyes with Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner in Ebony and apply Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara to lashes. Follow with Film Noir Lash Lacquer on the top and bottom to add shine, volume and drama. The final stroke? “I like to use Lash Lacquer as an eyeliner to create an extremely glossy line above the eyes,” says Brooke. “Just retrace your existing line with Lash Lacquer’s brush applicator.”

Balance the glossy eye statement with matte plum lips by applying Aura Sheer Lip Stain in Scarlet.
