Tramp Stamps
No this is not the latest stamp that the avid collector is lusting after! – Nope! I’m talking about that ever so “classy” lower back tattoo!

Personally I think they are cute! But it wasn’t until recently that I heard them referred to as “tramp stamps!” - I know, I know! Where have I been!? Evidently under a rock! :s
It came as a worrying blow, because for the longest time I’ve been meaning to get an eagle on my lower back. - I’ve even spent countless hours on the internet searching and researching the perfect eagle and tweaking the design so it’s the right side of feminine-masculine (I know, not a real term but I’m sure you get what I mean ;o)) So you can imagine my horror at finding out the term! It’s not right I tell thee, it’s. Just. Not. Right!
Where does the term come from!? - I mean who in their right mind came up with it!!
If you see a guy with a tattoo on his back you don’t think tramp, so why are the rules for women different?

Help me understand the term, by commenting below! Or if you’ve got your own thoughts on the matter leave a comment also, I’d love to hear them!

I think largely because at first and locally to me, the only people who had statement tatoos on theor lower backs were the local chavs or porn stars...

Tramp Stamps n Slag Tags both commonly used terms. It comes from the fact that when there was a boom trend for them a few years ago, the excited lil follow fashion girls would go out of their ways to have them on show and the effect was often very trampesque as these girls were blatantly craving that sexual attention n the names have stuck around.
I have one there, that place chosen as it's a soca related tattoo so the region makes sense - most people don't even know I have it as I'm someone who gets all my body art as expression for me, not the world.
I wouldn't let anyones narrow minded opinion affect your choice, as with anything in this life there will always be people tryna throw their judgement around the worst is when tramps without a stamp try it! Hmph, I see you!!!!!

lol I totally get why it could be called a bullseye, but I think the reason for it being named a tramp stamp is like Charlie said, it's very popular among chavs and slappers... however I won't let it stop me getting one there if I chose to have one there.

I've heard they were called Tramp Stamps because of the amount of porn stars with tats on their lower back.
I personally love tattoos and don't care where they are, I'm more about what the design is like and how well it's done. I think if it's something you've always wanted done then go for it, it's your body and you should be free to do what you want with it!
As with everything in this world your going to get people who bitch and moan about how people look and I get sick of hearing people say 'tattoos ruin your body' and 'they are so ugly looking on women'. Blah, blah, blah.
I would simply say to those people if you don't like what I look like then stop wasting your time and look elsewhere!

You haven't even seen my 'tramp stamp' in person have you? LOL I don't show it to people, I know it's there and that's good enough for me. Us women always get a rough ride compared to men.
Sure, some tats look awful, but if the owner loves it, then it's not for anybody else to pass comment. If it's not on your body, why are you concerning yourself with it.
