GUEST POST ¬ COSMETIC CANDY

This is my first foray into Hourglass Cosmetics.  First forays with any brand make me nervous – what if it’s hate at first sight?!

Hourglass Prodigy Hydrating Lip Gloss comes in simple unassuming packaging. I have no idea what’s inside:

Picture1

Unusual packaging, that’s what!  I love my innovative packaging, and this hydrating lipgloss is held in a half solid, hard squeezy rectangular tube.  The idea is that the lip gloss is so small, flat and compact that you can slip it easily into a back pocket or purse.

The shade chosen for me is Eden, which looks like a beige nude – something I would definitely pick for myself.

So it’s the front of this lipgloss that controls the amount of product that is dispensed.  I can’t help but love this idea – I hate lip loss that makes it tricky for you to get to your last few droplets.

Squeeze!

The lip gloss is then dispensed…note the shape of the applicator, which is almost triangular.  It makes it easy to apply around the cupid’s bow.

What about the texture, and the shade?

Picture5

Well, it’s a sheer, glossy, highly hydrating gloss.  It’s a nice textured gloss, quite light feeling and not very sticky.

This formula is also water resistant – can I wear it on the beach?! Well, I’ll try!

The shade is like the perfect light beige nude with some fine shimmer in it.  This is the kind of shade I instinctively go for – the pigment with this particular gloss is a little low – it works better if you want something really natural or if worn on top of a lipstick.

Here it is on the lips.

It’s very natural on me with a medium skintone – it will probably look different if you are pale or if you are dark.  I would love it if this gloss had a little more pigment.

But since it doesn’t – it will be that gloss I keep in my back pocket, that failsafe lip gloss that will go with everything.

I would consider buying this lipgloss in other colours – Pulse is grabbing my fancy!

This isn't a brand I'd heard of before either. I like the look of the packaging, and water resistant gloss sounds interesting.

Looks lovely on too - nice and subtle but gives good shimmer!
