  • GUEST POST ¬ ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE ¬ BEAUTY INFO ZONE ¬ MAY 2011

    Posted on 31/05/2011 by zu.rafalat

I have been secretly buying as much Rouge Bunny Rouge as I can get my hands on! Rouge Bunny Rouge has totally captured my heart. I’d love to wax poetic about this brand because it’s the most beautiful and magical one I’ve found in a long time. I do fall in love easily but this time it’s for real. I will probably have affairs on the side because that’s just in my nature but I’m willing to profess true love for Rouge Bunny Rouge publicly now.

I’ll be reviewing the products I bought once a week until I’ve shared them all with you. You’ll have to be patient but in the meantime Everyday Beauty bought RBR along with me and she’s writing a series of posts about the brand too. After reading my post I recommend you bookmark her blog or subscribe to it especially if you think that RBR will win you over too.

Before I go any farther I want to assure you that RBR isn’t as expensive as it first appears to be. It’s only available at Zuneta.com and the prices seem high but they are in the same range as Le Metier de Beaute, Dior, and Chanel (U.S. price of the eyeshadows is $34.12). Plus you reach free shipping very quickly, about 3 items makes that happen. If you are in North America you won’t pay tax either so it really isn’t out of range. Rouge Bunny Rouge is a Russian brand. Their taleis so magical sounding . It just sweeps me away with an enchanted image.

Now to the products. Of course you know I started with eyeshadows. My zest for makeup starts and usually ends with eyeshadows.

The powdered eyeshadows are named after birds. When I first learned about the brand from London Makeup Girl I would read the names and be entranced but they all blended into each other. Now that I own half a dozen (with more to come) I can rattle them off like a Ph.D. student at their thesis reading. The official name of the eyeshadows are LONG LASTING EYESHADOWS – WHEN BIRDS ARE SINGING. Read this and see why I fell in love:  “Like this golden froth of musical syrup, ‘When Birds are Singing…’ Eye Shadows are a time defying exotic enigma. This is plumage to adorn you in shades as deliciously mellow as soft silence that flows, or as brilliantly potent as jewelled notes. So addictive are these morsels that you’ll be causing your own kaleidoscopic ripples every time you wear them.’

My first order contained Bejeweled Skylark, Delicate Hummingbird, and Abyssinian Catbird. I’ll give you my color impressions along with the official Zuneta ones.

Bejeweled Skylark scared me a little when I first opened it. It’s described as “rich iridescent chocolate brown, with copper reflections”. I saw the richness when I opened it but I also saw some redness to the shadow. I put off wearing it at first but that was a mistake since on my eyes there is no redness. Instead it is a deep chocolate that can be applied lightly or intensely. It’s up to you. The shadow is almost chameleon in that way. My three pictures were taken in different lights, the bottom picture is the truest. I’m finding it goes well with almost every other RBR eyeshadow I bought.

Delicate Hummingbird is the color I’m drawn to all the time. It’s a purple based taupe that had me drooling when I opened my package. I don’t think my pictures grasped the loveliness of this particular shadow since it is less purple than my photos show. There’s nothing that hits you in the head and says “I’M PURPLE”, instead it’s just a subtleness to the taupe. It’s not a brown taupe. From Zuneta: “Cold, dusky sugar-frosted plum, iridescent with pink shimmer”. It is a shimmery eyeshadow but there is no glitter in this. I never have fallout or worry that I’m going to look inappropriate with the amount of shimmer in it.

Abyssinian Catbird is the wild card for me. It’s not a shade that I’d typically pick but I’m so happy that I went for it. It’s described as “metallic bronze with golden highlights” but their swatch doesn’t look very bronze to me. When it came I saw all the gold and khaki that’s embedded in the bronze tone. It stands out in my collection since I don’t really have many colors with any khaki to them. Normally khaki and I don’t get along but the golden tones make this stunningly unique.

Above picture is Angelic Cockatiels (next week’s review) on the lid with Abyssinian Catbird in the crease.

Besides being just magnificent colors the texture is what really sells Rouge Bunny Rouge. The shadows are soft to the touch, they feel creamy. With an eyeshadow base they last throughout the day without a problem. The pigmentation is top-notch. They stand alone or in combination with others by RBR or your favorite brand. But I think if you try them, they will become your favorite brand.

Here’s a picture of the 6 shadows I currently own (more are on the way) to just whet your whistle. — Marcia

  • Guess who...

It's amazing what makeup can do - major points if you can work out which A-List actress lives under this disguise:

If you guessed Scarlett Johansson, you'd be very right.  If you had no idea, I think you'd be forgiven. What a transformation...

  • Playboy, Activist, Rebel: Who is the real Hugh Hefner?

    Posted on 24/05/2011 by zu.rafalat

Yesterday the Zuneta team went on a staff outing to watch the latest film from Oscar-winning director Brigitte Berman, a documentary exploring the man behind the magazine.  I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised his intelligence and all he achieved in the early years of Playboy which never gets a mention in the countless articles about his 3 girlfriends or however many he has at any given time.  The film, 'Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel', is well worth seeing to find out about his incredible work in the fight against America's social taboos, racial discrimination and, controversially, women's rights.

  • Project Ocean

    Posted on 19/05/2011 by zu.rafalat

Today I found myself killing 40mins in Selfridges between meetings.

I was planning in perusing/purchasing a fragrance but I was so harassed in the Beauty Hall I soon found myself racing towards the escalators.

When did such pushiness become acceptable? It reminded me instantly why I decide to launch a website where you can have as little or as much (should you desire) contact with staff as you want. Being an unsociable shopper that prefers to feel invisible, I don't get on very well with the pushy approach. I like to browse and discover and make my own decisions.

After the tenth person approached me within 5 mins, I decided to quickly manouvre myself onto a different floor, as I find things become remarkably calmer as soon as you leave the Ground Floor.

I chose the basement and I was very pleased as it gave me an opportunity to properly discover the fabulous Oceans Exhibition.

For those that don't know me, I'm a bit of a fish freak.

I just love anything to do with water and my encyclopedic knowledge of tropical fish bores people to absolute tears.

But it's rare that you see people fully understanding the damage we're doing to our Oceans and the Selfridges Exhibition very responsibly draws peoples attention to it.

For those that want indepth info, you can sit through a short but informative lecture on subjects such as coral conservation.

For those that are less interested, there is a blue whale bucking bronco.

For those that prefer something a little more extravagant, there is a quite impressive fashion exhibition when you walk in on the Ground Floor. Not particularly prominent, so you may miss it if you don't know about it, but worth seeking out as some of the pieces are quite spectacular.

Go and check it out. It's bringing awareness to a great cause.

  • ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE FINDS A FAN IN SUPERMODEL NATALIA VODIANOVA

    Posted on 19/05/2011 by zu.rafalat

    blog_natalia_vodianova

In a recent interview super beauty supermodel Natalia Vodianova revealed her beauty secrets, and cited Zuneta fave Rouge Bunny Rouge as one of her must-have brands. When it comes to powder compacts, the Bronzing Glow Powder takes the top spot, and the Gleaming Temptations lipglosses go with her everywhere:

"I always have a lipstick in my make-up bag.  I love this one - from Rouge Bunny Rouge" she tells us, rifling through a small black clutch and presenting a dark pink lip gloss. "A makeup artist was using it on me on a shoot and I loved the product so much"

  • GUEST POST ¬ CORINNA'S REVIEW OF ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE

    Posted on 12/05/2011 by zu.rafalat

    Shop: Zuneta

    zuneta-01

    zuneta-02

Und da sind nun die die Neuen:
    * Aus Liebe zu Rosen: Unschuldiges Rouge in "Orpheline"
    * Wonne & Begierde: Dekadentes Duo in "Flamenco- Duende"
    * Widerschein im Wasser: Getönte Feuchtigkeitspflege in "Adansonia"

    zuneta-03

  • Go Team GB!

    Posted on 11/05/2011 by zu.rafalat

To celebrate the collaboration between Stella McCartney and adidas for the Team GB Lifestyle Collection comes a conceptual short film that features the future stars of the Team GB Olympic team. Narrated by McCartney herself and directed by fashion photographer Jacob Sutton, this film is a tribute to the physical and mental strength and agility of these young athletes. Each one represents and embodies an element as they demonstrate their skills. Warning: this film may inspire you to finally pick up the exercise regime you said you would after New Years, but do not try to imitate Philips Idowu and break through a wall:

Stella McCartney has been collaborating with adidas for the past 5 years, but with this collection, she's going for gold - literally. Clothes are decorated in gold foil print, encouragement for success at London 2012! We'll be cheering on Team GB with pride, but at least we'll know that however many medals we take home, we will definitely win in the style stakes.
